Internet is more popular among UK people for research and book holiday

According to an online shopping survey conducted by Foolprof, internet is more popular among UK people for planning their holidays. 87% respondent said, they intended to use internet to research next holiday and short breaks. But still small segment prefer to go high street travel agents or operators to book holidays ( 24%). Other preferd methods are through telephone and face to face arrangement. These two segments comprised from 8% of total respondents.

But here is interesting finding too. Still (40% ) considerable of people go to high street travel agents to get the brochures to collect more information, before book through internet. They said, the available information on internet is not sufficient to get correct decision sometimes. But make booking through Online is very easy than agents.

Currently 60% UK adults are online and this trend is set to grow over the next five years significantly. This trend is not sound alarm to High street travel agents and operators. And good news to online travel agents.

One strategy came to my mind just now, High street travel agents better to think about merging possibilities with Online companies now. This is not new and hard thing to do, coz online companies are happy to merge, expedia, lastminutes.com and booking.com main online presence are acquiring most of profitable avenue daily basis.
